DREAM WEAVER

Summary

A handful of Berber women from Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains, who weave carpets at night, reflect on their knowledge, traditions, lives and future. They harbour many dreams, which they sometimes allow to shine through. Mothers, daughters and grandmothers, they all work hard at domestic tasks and making traditional carpets.

In a self-sufficient economy, they have no financial independence or recognition for their talent. They are determined to break free from their circumstances and offer their children an education and a future. From Essaouira, on the Atlantic coast, they hear news of women like them who have set up argan oil cooperatives and changed their lives.

Taaborth and Erkia set off as explorers and, dazzled, bring back to their sisters images of this first journey outside their mountains and a new hope.
