CONVERSATION WITH THE LANDSCAPE

Summary

1875: a young, wealthy industrialist travels through the Forez countryside equipped with a darkroom. At a time when this medium was still in its infancy, Félix Thiollier produced nearly 25,000 photographic plates, most of which captured the contours of his country, from the foothills of the Forez to the outskirts of Saint-Etienne. In this land he would never leave, Félix experimented with photography, influenced by painting and drawing.
A century later, a camera returns to these places shaken by the industrial revolution and reveals an inventive and prolific journey, under the auspices of a community of artists. A sensitive work that progresses from the countryside to the city, attaching itself to the outskirts and margins of the city, a peaceful dazzle for the most modest places and the humblest objects. The world face to face.
Produced with the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region’s audiovisual aid fund, the production aid of the CNC Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée, with the production aid of PROCIREP -société des producteurs- and with the support of ANGOA.
