BRIGA, THE FORGOTTEN TOWN

Summary

Mysterious ruins emerge in the middle of a Normandy forest in a place called ‘Bois-l’Abbé’ near the town of Eu. Initial archaeological research conducted on the site in the 19th century suggested the presence of a monumental Roman sanctuary. In the early 2000s, when the site was being pillaged, new archaeological excavations were undertaken by archaeologist Etienne Mantel.
Given the scale of the discoveries, Etienne suspected that the forest was actually home to the remains of a forgotten Roman town. As the excavations progressed, the site gradually revealed its secrets and Etienne’s intuition proved correct: a real town was coming to light. Spectacular discoveries followed one after another, culminating in the discovery that many archaeologists dream of: the name of the unknown town: BRIGA.
