THE MURMUR OF SILENCES

What role does artistic creation play when it encounters a person, a story, a country? Rotha, a 53-year-old Franco-Cambodian filmmaker who lives between France and Cambodia, has always been passionate about artistic creation and artists. Like a protective older brother, he accompanies them, tries to understand their art and analyse the echoes it creates within him. Setting off on the roads of Cambodia to meet them is also a way of retracing his steps, revisiting his history, that of his country of origin, and a collective trauma.

Over more than thirty years, Le murmure des silences (The Murmur of Silences), like a heartbeat that races and then calms, attempts to understand the role of art in reconstruction: how art transforms and liberates in a universal way.
